Brighton is one of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations, and is frequently ranked amongst the country’s best cities. With a wealth of things to see and do, which 5 should no traveller miss out on?

The Lanes is a teeming maze of independent shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants catering to every diet and taste around.

For shoppers who like to go off the beaten track, there is really no better place to shop. Want vegan shoes? A sweetshop specialising in international sweets? A vintage clothing store? A shop specialising in Mod clothing? Yes, the Lanes have you covered.

Go On The Pier

Stepping onto Brighton Pier (often referred to as the Palace Pier by locals) is like stepping back 20 years. Stalls selling pots of seafood, fish and chips and seaside rock are all accompanied by penny arcades and a pleasing selection of fairground rides.

Sure, you won’t win millions on the arcade games, but you will be taken on a crazy trip down memory lane, especially if your childhood was spent in English seaside resorts.

Drink In The Fortune Of War

The nautical themed beachfront pub is one of the oldest watering holes in the city. While there is seating inside, it’s best experienced in the height of summer, soaking in the sun and enjoying the vibrant promenade.

In summer the pub boasts a selection of DJs who play music long into the small hour, allowing revellers to keep the party going on the beach.

See The Royal Pavilion

Built by the Prince Regent, who Brightonians have to thank for putting the place very visibly on the map, the Royal Pavilion is the majestic symbol of the city. The outside resembles an Indian palace, while the inside is full of the opulent décor one would expect a lavish royal to demand.

For those who don’t fancy touring the interior, the gardens are a popular place to relax with a picnic or a few cold ones. Just don’t walk too close to the exterior or the building, or a gruff voice will reprimand you over a loudspeaker, much to everyone else’s amusement.

Eat At Burger Brothers

Burgers fans need to make award winning Burger Brothers their first stop. Tucked away in an unassuming plain storefront, the little restaurant serves up the best burgers in the city. With a range of buns and ingredients, all cooked to perfection.

With just a handful of stools available for customers, at peak times you might have to accept takeaway as the only viable option.
